Jacopo Sadoleto

Jacopo Sadoleto (1477-1547) was an Italian scholar, priest, poet, theologian. Born at Modena in 1477, he became the secretary to Pope Leo X in 1513, bishop in 1517 and was made cardinal by Pope Paul III in 1553. He tried unsuccessfully to reconcile the differences with the reformers, advocating a series of reforms in the Roman Catholic Church. Died in Rome.
