Abraham I. Katsch (1908-1998) was an American Jewish scholar.

Biography

Abraham I. Katsch was born in Poland and emigrated to the United States in 1925.

In 1933, at New York University, he offered the first course in modern Hebrew ever taught in an American University.

In 1942 he received his PhD from Dropsie College and taught Judaic Studies at New University and Dropsie COllege until his retirement inn 1976.

He died in 1998.
