Baptistry of Saint John, Florence, Italy
Mosaic Ceiling

Stories from the Life of John the Baptist (1330) is a cycle of mosaics by Florentine Masters, at Baptistry of Saint John, Florence, Italy.

The ceiling of the Baptistry of Saint John, Florence, Italy was decorated by Florentine Masters with a cycle of mosaics illustrating the Last Judgment with Stories from the Book of Genesis, Stories from the Life of Joseph, Stories from the Lives of Mary and Jesus, and Stories from the Life of John the Baptist. The designs of the mosaics were contributed by some of the most renowned Florentine artists of the time, such as Coppo di Marcovaldo, Cimabue, and others. The date (1330) refers to the completion of the mosaics, some of which were started as early as 1225. The cycle on John the Baptist was one of the latest to be completed.
