Naphtali Herz Wessely

Naphtali Herz Wessely (1725-1805) was a German Jewish scholar. Born in Hamburg into a German Jewish family, Naphtali Herz Wessely spent his childhood in Copenhagen, Denmark. After his marriage he moved back to Germany where he associated with Moses Mendelssohn, becoming one of the leaders of the Jewish Haskalah.
