John Lightfoot (1602-1675) was a British scholar, and a specialist in Second Temple Studies, New Testament Studies, and Early Jewish Studies.
Contribution to Second Temple Judaism & Christian Origins
English churchman and rabbinic scholar. Born near Birmingham, was educated at Christ College, Cambridge. Vice-chancellor of Cambridge University. One of the major contributors to the Walton Polyglot Bible. Wrote first comprehensive commentary of New Testament based on Jewish, mostly halakhic, literature.
