Jacopo Sadoleto (1477-1547) was an Italian scholar.

Biography

Clergyman, poet, theologian, bishop, cardinal.

Sadoleto was born at Modena in 1477. He became the secretary to Pope Leo X in 1513, bishop in 1517 and was made cardinal by Pope Paul III in 1553. He tried to reconcile the differences with the reformers, advocating a series of reforms in the Roman Catholic Church.

He died in Rome on October 18, 1547.
