Biography

NOTES : His father was Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Goldman (1905–1982), chief rabbi of the Orthodox Jewish community in Neupest. They survived the Holocaust with false papers that certified them as Aryans. After the war, Goldman's family lived for a few years in Hamburg, Germany and then emigrated to the United States (New York) in 1949. By profession, Yosef Goldman was a dealer of rare Jewish/Hebrew books and manuscripts and was known as a leading figure in this field.
