Yitzhak Rathaus / Yitzhak Raz (M / France, 1940), Holocaust survivor

Biography

Yitzhak was born on March 19, 1940, the son of Erich Rathaus from Leipzig and and Jana Braude. Father joined the French underground, was arrested and sent to Auschwitz. Yitzhak's mother fled to Rome with the boy. When Rome was occupied by the Germans, Yitzhak was placed in a convent in the city, and given the name Giacomino. After the war his mother took him from the convent and they both immigrated to Israel.
