Woman, Church and State (1893) is a book by Matilda Joslyn Gage.

Abstract

"A historical account of the status of woman through the Christian ages: with reminiscences of the matriarchate." Paul of Tarsus is singled out as the major villain, and blamed for creating a theology of intolerance and oppression against women.
