"Grundlage dieser Studie ist das Buch Ben Sira (Jesus Sirach), ein Weisheitsbuch aus dem beginnenden 2. Jh. v.Chr. Ben Sira als Weisheitslehrer möchte Bildung vermitteln. Als erster Autor im alttestamentlichen Kontext bietet er explizite Reflexion zum Themenkreis Weisheit und Bildung.Diese Studie zeichnet die Bedingungen für Bildung, das Bildungsgeschehen, das Ziel von Bildung und damit auch das Bildungsverständnis im Buch Ben Sira nach. Zudem gibt sie einen Überblick über die Entwicklung von Bildungsinstitutionen und -verständnis im altorientalischen und griechischen Kontext, an dessen Schnittstelle das Buch Ben Sira steht."--Publisher description (German).
