Victoria adversos impios Hebraeos <Latin> / Victory against Impious Jews (1303) is a manuscript work by Porchetus Salvagusí.

Abstract

Written around 1303 and based on Pugio fidei adversus Mauros et Judaeos (The Dagger of Faith against Muslims and Jews / 1280 Ramón Martí), ms., this violent apologetic work was equally influential especially for its many (mis)quotations from Rabbinic literature (Talmud, Midrash, etc.).

Editions

The text widely circulated in manuscript form. It was then printed in 1520, more than one century before its major source (Ramón Martí's work resurfaced only in a 1651 edition). The presence of an annotated copy of the book in the personal library of Martin Luther shows that Porchetus' work was very influential in shaping Luther's anti-semitic views.
