The Wicked Life and Wofull Death of Herod the Great, a Stranger by Nation yet by the Romans Made King of the Jews (1664) is a book by Samuel Clarke.

Abstract

"Taking in also the story of the Jews during all the time of his reign, which was about 37 years: whereof thirty five were before the incarnation of Christ, and two after. Whereby much light is given to many passages in the evangelists: and at which time that prophesie of old Jacob was fulfilled: the scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a law-giver from between his feet, till Shilo come. Gen. 49.10."
