Biography
Stephen Jacobs was born in Lodz, Poland on June 12, 1939 [1940]. The family was deported to Auschwitz. In Dec 1945 Stephen and his older brother Jerzy (9 Nov 35 [1934]) ended in Buchenwald, where they were among the youngest survivors. After the war the entire family miraculously reunited from different camps and ended up in Switzerland. They emigrated in 1948 to the United States. While Stephen has been open about his experience, his older brother has never talked publicly about it. Stephen became an architect and in 2002 designed the memorial of the small camp at Buchenwald.
