Abstract

According to Christian tradition, Peter visited Joppa (Jaffa), where he stayed at the house of Simon the Tanner. There Peter raised Tabitha from the dead and received from heaven a vision that he might go and visit the centurion Cornelius at Caesarea Maritima. The Church was built in loco in memory of these events in the life of Peter.

History and current location

The Church was built between 1888 and 1894 on a site in which previous churches dedicated at St Peter had been built.
