Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875-1912) was a British composer of African descent. Born in London to an African father and an English mother. Studied violin and composition at the Royal College of Music. Had a very successful career as composer, which led him also to a triumphant tour in the United States and was interrupted only by his premature death by pneumonia.
