Sami Adelsheimer (M / Germany, 1938-1944), Holocaust victim

Biography

Sami Adelsheimer was born October 30, 1938 at Manheim, Germany. He was just two years old, when he was deported to the Gurs concentration camp at the foot of the French Pyrenees. Taken from the camp by a help organization, Sami was placed in the Izieu Jewish Children's Home in the Rhone Valley. At first he seemed to be safe there. But on 6 April 1944 the Gestapo arrested all 44 children and their custodians and deported them to Auschwitz-Birkenau. There, Sami was asphyxiated with Zyklon B in the gas chamber on April 15, 1944 at Auschwitz. He was 5 years old. His mother, Laura , had been deported November 20, 1943, nine convoys before his own.
