Salomon Papo (M / Bosnia, 1927-1944), Holocaust victim

Biography

Salomone Papo was born August 8, 1927 in Sarajevo, Bosnia, Yugoslavia.

Salomon, fifteen years old, had reached Nonantola in April 1943 with a group of 34 children from Spalato (Split). Ill with tubercolosis, he was sent to the sanatorium in Gaiato di Pavullo and could not follow the rest of the group on its way to Switzerland. He was arrested in March 1944 and his name is listed among the deportees of the April 5th train from Fossoli to Auschwitz, where he perished.

He was one of children featured in the film Die Kinder der Villa Emma (2016). His role was interpreted by actor Haris Begic.
