Abstract
"The first king, Saul, elected against God’s will and clearly insane; the second, David, a usurper torn between wisdom and madness - preferring Jerusalem to Bethlehem - whose reign is marked by internal struggles; the third, Solomon, the king of kings whose chronicle merges with that of the Temple he edified; but suddenly the royal task of seeming piety ends up in a schism that forces out ten of the twelve tribes that constitute the true Israel. The supposedly wisest of kings committed an irreparable act of murderous folly. Jacques Cazeaux’s analysis shows in detail how the author of Samuel " Kings, by writing down the legends and probably sections of archives in his own way, delivered a severe criticism, transforming the whole into an anti-monarchist ’morality’.
