Pietro Boccaccio (1910-2006) was an Italian scholar, Jesuit and Catholic priest. Professor of Hebrew and Aramaic at the Pontifical Biblical Institute. Born in Turin, Italy, he entered the Jesuit Order in 1926, graduated from the University of Padua in 1938 and was ordained a priest in 1941, completing his studies at the Pontifical Biblical institute in 1943-46. He joined the P.I.B. Faculty in 1949, where he taught Hebrew and Aramic until 1985. Was among the first scholars in Italy to study and publish the texts from Qumran.
