Philip Trajetta / Filippo Traetta (1777-1854) was an Italian American composer. Born in Venice, Italy, the son of Tommaso Traetta, studied in Naples and arrived in America in 1799 as a political refugee. Was active in Boston, Charleston, New York and Philadelphia, where he settled in 1822. His oratorios were presumably the first ones composed in the United States.
