Natalia Trouhanova

Natalia Trouhanova (1885-1956) was a Russian dancer. Born in Kiev in 1885, she began her career in Russia. Moved to Paris where she became one of the leading dancers of her time. She was one of the first interpreters of Salome on the stage, first in 1907 and 1910 as a frequent substitute of the soprano in the Dance of Seven Veils in Strauss's and Mariotte's operas and then as the protagonist of the 1912 Paris production of Florenz Schmitt's La Tragédie de Salomé. After her retirement in 1914, Trouhanova lived in Paris and then moved back to Russia, where she died in 1956 (aged 70).
