Mafalda Pavia (1902-1985) was an Italian Jewish author. Born in Milan on December 10, 1902 by Clement and Victorina De Benedetti. In 1938, because of the racial laws promulgated by the Fascist regime, was ousted by the Italian Society of Pediatrics, prevented from medical-surgical practice at the Children's Hospital "Alexandrini" in Verona and, finally, expelled from the University of Milan, where she was assistant professor of pediatric clinic. She survived the Nazi occupation of Italy, being hosted for almost two years in a Catholic monastery, disguised as a nun. After the war she returned to Verona where she resumed exercising the medical profession.
