Luigi Arosio (1822-1901) was an Italian NT scholar and a Catholic priest, a representative of Liberal Catholicism in 19th century Italy. Born in Milan on 16 november 1822, studied at the Seminario Maggiore of Milan and then served as priest at the Parish of San Bibila in Milan for 33 years. Took part in the Five Days of Milan in 1848 and then in the 1859 insurrection that led to the liberation of Milan. After a pilgrimage in the Holy Land with other priests, devoted his life to the study of Scriptures, publishing studies on Jesus and Paul. For 22 years served as Rettore of the Sanctuary of San Celso. Died in Milan on 2 July 1901.
