Abstract
"The part of the Bible known as "The Writings" (Ketuvim, in Hebrew) dates from the Persian or early Hellenistic period. In it, within a vast panorama of gender relations, we find numerous figures of women. The texts are the product of a patriarchal society that defines people by their social status, their class and, within it, by their gender, age and other factors. Most of the books reproduce the social pyramid of patriarchy, but some make the voices of the marginalized audible and criticize hegemonic discourses of power. For this reason, different interpretations may emerge, depending on the hermeneutical position of each interpreter. This volume consists of four parts. The first investigates the reality of women in the Persian period.The second critically presents the Israelite wisdom tradition and its many female figures. The third shows women's voices and female metaphors in poetic books, and the fourth studies the stories of the protagonists of the books of Ruth, Esther and the story of Susanna, in conflict situations."--Publisher description.
"La parte de la Biblia conocida como "Los Escritos" (Ketuvim, en hebreo) data de la época persa o primer período helenista. En ella, dentro de un vasto panorama de relaciones de género, encontramos numerosas figuras de mujeres. Los textos son producto de una sociedad patriarcal que define a las personas por su estatus social, su clase y, dentro de ella, por su sexo, edad y otros factores. La mayoría de los libros reproduce la pirámide social del patriarcado, pero algunos hacen audibles las voces de los marginados y marginadas y critican discursos hegemónicos de poder.
