Les Poèmes du Serviteur: de la lecture critique à l'herméneutique (1981) is a book by Pierre Grelot.

Abstract

The interest to this work it is how the Judaism of Second Temple interprets and read poems like those of Isaiah. The theme and subject of the Suffering Servant's Poems was a source of many interesting interpretations. Grelot combines in this work two methods, the critical approach and a hermeneutic study about the text. His purpose is to base the hermeneutic within the framework of the rigorous criticism. By this study he wants to show an example of the hermeneutic thought that leans on rigorous criticism. The author analyze the text, put in its context, and propose a historical and literary study about the interpretations in historical period of Second Temple's Judaism, in the New Testament and in the Isaiah's Targoum. He ends with a proposition of hermeneutic and theological reading for today of Suffering Servant's Poems.Matteo Silvestrini University of Lausanne
