Le trésor du Temple <French> / The Treasure of the Temple is a novel by Eliette Abécassis.

Abstract

A thriller involving the contemporary search of the treasures of the Solomon Temple, their location being hidden in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

April 2002, Judean desert. The body of an archaeologist, a victim of ritual murder, is found on an altar near Qumran. At the time of his death, Professor Ericson was looking for the treasure of the Temple from one of the manuscripts found in the caves of Qumran, the Copper Scroll. Besides being the only metal and most enigmatic of all the texts found, the Copper Scroll describes a valuable treasure that may lie hidden in various locations around Jerusalem. Although some researchers question the alleged existence of the treasure, Ericson was convinced that the descriptions of the parchment were real and had spent years trying to prove that the treasure was made up of sacred objects from the Temple of Solomon. Ary Cohen, an expert on the region and the Dead Sea Scrolls, is assigned by the Israeli secret services to investigate the murder of Ericson and unravel a mystery that dates back to the origin of time and has involved Essenes, Templars, Masons and the sect of the Murderers.

Part Two of the Author's Qumran Trilogy, preceded by Qumran (1996 Abécassis), novel and followed by La dernière tribu (2004 Abécassis), novel.
