According to the Gospel of Luke, Jude (son) of James was one of the Twelve Apostles. He is traditionally identified with Thaddeus (recorded in Mark and Matthew).

The KJV incorrectly translates "Jude brother of James" rather than the typical "son of" or even more conservatively leaving the genitive translation as merely "of".
