Juan Maldonado (1533-1583) was a Spanish NT scholar, active mostly in France.

A Jesuit theologian, fluent in Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Syriac, Chaldaic, and Arabic, he was Theology professor at the Collège de Clermont in Paris.

Biography

Jesuit theologian and NT scholar. Educated in Greek and Latin at the University of Salamanca, Spain. After being ordained priest in 1563, was sent to Paris as professor at the Collège de Clermont. There he taught Theology and also learned Hebrew, Syriac, Chaldaic, and Arabic. In 1580 went back to Rome, where he died on January 5, 1583.
