Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792) was a British artist. Born in Plympton, Devon, on 16 July 1723, Reynolds was one of the most popular portrait painter of his age. He was one of the founders and first President of the Royal Academy. King George III knighted him in 1769. Reynolds died February 23, 1792 in London [England] and was buried at St. Paul's Cathedral.
