Joseph Judah Lerner (1849-1907) was a Russian Jewish playwright. Born at Berdychev on January 1, 1849. Journalist and war correspondent. In 1880 he founded at Odessa a Jewish theater, for which he wrote many plays in Yiddish. In the very last years of his life converted to Christianity.
