Jesucristo Superestrella / Jesus Christ Superstar (1975) is the first Mexican production of Jesus Christ Superstar (1970 Webber / Rice), opera, directed by Charles Gray, with Marcos Lizama (musical director). Spanish version of the libretto by Julissa and Marcos Lizama.
Abstract
It was the first time that a musical was performed in Spanish in South America.
The production received several awards by the Asociación Mexicana de Críticos de Teatro, the Unión de Periodistas, and the Unión de Críticos y Cronistas de Teatro.
The recording was made at "De la Capilla" Theater, Coyoacan in 1975.
