Ivan Hrbek (1923-1993) was a Czech scholar. Ivan Hrbek was born June 2, 1923 in Prague. In his youth Hrbek converted to Islam and formally adopted the Muslim name Ahmed. in 1945-50, he studied iSemitic philology and history of Islam at Charles University, where he became professor of Islamic Studies. Hrbek died March 20, 1993 in Prague [Czech Republic].
