Il miracolo <Italian> / The Miracle (1948) is a short film (sound, B&W, 40m), directed by Roberto Rossellini. It was released as the second part of Rossellini's film, L'amore / Ways of Love.

Abstract

A peasant outcast believes the baby she’s carrying is Christ. 40m segment of Rossellini’s film L’Amore. The story, written by Federico Fellini and performed by Anna Magnani, is a contemporary allegorical treatment of Mary's pregnancy. Its release caused furious legal battle both in Italy and in the United States as the Catholic Church labeled it “sacrilegious.”
