Herod and Antipater, with the Death of Faire Mariam (1622) is a play by Gervase Markham and William Sampson.
Abstract
Marks the beginning of a spate of pseudo-biblical plays which exploited the oriental exoticism of the biblical setting and the popular interest in scriptural themes while yet avoiding the charge of sacrilege. May be influenced not only by the English translation of Josephus, as stated in the title-page, but also by the Latin edition of the Josippon.
