Hans Helmut Michel (M / Germany, France, 1930-1944), Holocaust victim.

Biography

Hans Helmut Michel was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on June 6, 1930. Little Hans played the piano and was the brightest boy in his class at the Petit College d'Avon, about 50 miles south of Paris, where he was given his false identity and hidden from Nazi persecution by the French priests there. One bright day in January 1944, the Gestapo barged into his classroom to take him away, and within a few weeks, after one of those nightmarish train rides that took place in Europe in those days, he arrived at Auschwitz, where he died.
