Guido Kisch (1889-1985) was a Jewish scholar.

Biography

Born in Praha. Studied in Praha and Leipzig. Taught in Königsberg (1920-22), Praha (1922-25), Halle (1925-33) and Breslavia (1933-35). In 1935 moved to the United States, becoming an American citizen. After WW2 moved back to Europe, at the University of Basel, Switzerland, where he settled in 1962. Editor of the journal Historia Judaica (1938-61) and co-founder of the Leo Baeck Institute (1955). Specialist in Medieval Jewish history.
