The God and Mammon was an episode in the Ministry of Jesus, according to the Gospels of Matthew (6:24) and Luke (16:13).

Overview

This teaching of Jesus is included by the Gospel of Matthew within the Sermon of the Mount, while in the Gospel of Luke it is the conclusion of the parable of the Unjust Steward.

Matthew 6:24 (NRSV) -- [24] "No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

Gospel of Luke

Luke 16:13 (NRSV) -- [13] No slave can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
