Giuseppe Compagnoni (1754-1833) was an Italian author, poet and translator of poetical works. Born at Lugo di Romagna, was a jurist, journalist and writer. A supporter of the patriotic movement, he is credited for being "the father of the Italian flag" as he promoted his usage as a symbol of national unity. Died in Milan on December 29, 1833.
