Giambattista Gallicciolli (1733-1806) was an Italian scholar and Catholic priest. Studied theology, philosophy, history, and ancient languages (Latin and Greek but especially Hebrew, Aramaic and Syriac). Since 1774 developed a close personal and professional relationship with Giovanni Bernardo De Rossi. In 1782 he began teaching Greek and Hebrew in Venice. He edited and translated ancient Latin, Greek and Hebrew texts.

Giambattista Gallicciolli was born in Venice [Italy] on May 17, 1733. A Catholic priest, he studied theology, philosophy, history, and ancient languages (Latin and Greek but especially Hebrew, Aramaic and Syriac). Since 1774 he developed a close personal and professional relationship with Giovanni Bernardo De Rossi. In 1782 he began teaching Greek and Hebrew in Venice. He edited and translated ancient Latin, Greek and Hebrew texts. Gallicciolli died in Venice [Italy] on May 12, 1806 and was buried in the Church of St. Augustine.
