George Alexander Macfarren (1813-1887) was a British composer. Macfarren was born March 2, 1813 in London [England]. Because of his poor eyesight (he would become totally blind in 1860), he concentrated his musical career on composing and teaching. He was professor at the Royal Academy of Music and at Cambridge University. Macfarren died October 31, 1887.
