Gadaliah Ibn-Yahya ben Joseph (1515-1587) Jewish historiographer and talmudist. Member of a distinguished family of Portoguese exiles domiciled in Italy. Born in Imola, finally settled in 1575 in Alessandria, where he became the local rabbi. A medley of history and legend, his history and genealogy of the Jews, from creation to his own days, became one of the most famous Hebrew works of its kind and was widely used by later Hebrew historiographers.
