Francis E. Peters (b.1927), scholar

Francis E. Peters (b.1927) is an American scholar. Born June 23, 1927 in New York, NY. He studied at St. Louis University (BA 1950, MA Latin & Greek 1952), and Fordham University (Russian language, 1956), earning his PhD from Princeton University (Islamic Studies 1961). Now emeritus, he was a professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies and History at New York University from 1961.
