Abstract

""The Jesus Handbuch"" presents research on Jesus in terms of the most recent and international discussions. It offers an overview of interpretations of Jesus in Christian history from its origins to the beginning of the 21st century. The handbook also deals with later developments and doctrines about Jesus in their religious, social and political context. This book offers information that informs the current intellectual discourse but also relevant information regarding archeological research. Finally, this handbook offers insights in the important effect Jesus had on early Christianity, in terms of the person and actions of Jesus as well as their meaning from various perspectives in the early Christian community. The information in the handbook was compiled from renowned scholars and researchers from different religious contexts and represents, therefore, the most current and complete overview concerning scholarship on Jesus to date.
