Abstract

In this highly influential book, Bornkamm reiterated the traditional position that Paul's doctrine of justification by faith was at the core of his struggle against Judaism and ultimately responsible for the separation of Christianity from Judaism. In Bornkamm' view Paul rejected the capability of the Law to lead anyone to salvation. The contrast is absolute, no reconciliation is possible between Paul's Christianity and Judaism.
