Christ the Redeemer (1931) is a monumental statue by Heitor da Silva Costa and Paul Landowski.

The largest art deco statue in the world stands 39.6 meters (130 ft) tall. The inner structure is built out of reinforced cement, while the outer layers are soapstone. Christ with open arms overlooks and embraces the city and its people. The statue was built between 1926 and 1931, at the peak of the 700 meters (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
