Charles Pasquale Greco [1] (1894-1987) -- Catholic Bishop (Alexandria LA, 1946-1973)
Born in Rodney MS to Italian immigrants, Greco was ordained a priest in 1918. On January 15, 1946, he was appointed the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Alexandria by Pope Pius XII. He was the first Italian-American, born in the United States, to serve in such a capacity. As bishop, he attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council in Rome between 1962 and 1965. He retired in 1973.
