Rafael Sabatini (Iesi, Italy, 1875 - Adelboden, Switzerland, 1950), novelist

Bon in Italy to an Italian father and an English mother (both opera singers), Sabatini attended school in Portugal, and as a teenager in Switzerland. He than moved to England at age 17. Sabatini is best known for his worldwide bestsellers: The Sea Hawk (1915), Scaramouche (1921), Captain Blood (1922), and Bellarion the Fortunate (1926).
