Antonio Caldara (Venice, 1670c - Vienna, 1736), composer, active in italy, Spain and Austria.

After working in Venice and Mantua, Caldara moved on to Barcelona as chamber composer to Charles III. There, he wrote some operas that are the first Italian operas performed in Spain. Back to Italy, he was maestro di cappella in Rome. In 1716, Caldara was appointed Vize-Kapellmeister to the Imperial Court in Vienna, and there he remained until his death in 1736.
