Jean Morin, Exercitationes ecclesiasticae in utrumque Samaritanorum Pentateuchum (Paris [France]: Antonius Vitray, 1631).

Abstract

"De illorum religione et moribus. De antiquiis Hebraeorum literis & siclis. Cabbalisticis scripturae sanctae interpretationibus, eiusque obscuris locis Samaritano codice illustratis. Variis Masorae & Iudaicorum Bibliorum corruptelis, aliisque id genus quàm plurimis ; quibus accedunt memorabilia quaedam utriusque Pentateuchi specimina."

In 1616 Italian traveler Pietro Della Valle purchased in Damascus a manuscript copy of the Samaritan Pentateuch. The copy, now known as Codex B, was deposited in a French library. Jean Morin's book is the first discussion of the Samaritan variants to the Hebrew text. Morin was also the editor of the editio princeps of the text in the Paris Polyglot in 1645.
