Ernesto Buonaiuti (M / Italy, 1881-1946), scholar

Catholic priest, Church historian, one of the leaders of the Modernist movement in Italy. Excommunicated by the Church for his liberal position in 1925, became professor of the history of Christianity at the University of Rome, but soon lost his post because of the 1929 Concordate and his opposition to the oath of loyalty to Fascism.
